Herringbone vinyl plank flooring in Redditch with preparation work

Mazon Flooring were asked by our customer in Redditch to update the look and feel of their kitchen flooring, replacing their existing vinyl flooring with a realistic looking herringbone LVT floor.
The sub-floor had been smoothed in the past to a good enough standard for a cushion sheet vinyl, but needed some additional work before a stick down LVT could be installed. Mazon Flooring use a hand held floor grinder with dust extraction to remove a few high points and then applied feather finish over the whole floor to smooth our any little imperfections.
The floor to be installed was a herringbone pattern LVT , and when installing herringbone flooring, it is very important to make sure the main lines that you start with are completely straight, paying attention to where the edges of the planks will fall and adjusting if the centre line falls unfavourably with the key features of the room. In the case of a job such as this with a galley kitchen, we use the centre point between the units on either side, to ensure we had an even cut running either side of the kitchen units. Due to the kitchen being south facing and the level of heat and sunlight coming in to the room, we installed the herringbone LVT using an adhesive that is suitable for high temperature fluctuations.
The finished results are exactly what the customer was looking for, and provided a child and pet-proof floor that was able to withstand the rigours of family life. The herringbone LVT is simple to clean using a suitable cleaning solution and flat mop, and can have it’s wear surface renewed many time in the future so that it last for many years to come.
