Amtico Form Rural Oak hallway with preparation work

Mazon Flooring were approached by a client looking for a herringbone parquet flooring to a hallway in Harborne. They weren’t quite sure if they wanted real wood or luxury vinyl, so we started first by looking at the pros and cons, and suitability for the clients needs.

After some discussion and samples going home to check in the area, the decision was made to go for Amtico Form Rural Oak, a beautiful luxury vinyl, with a hard-wearing surface and long warranty. The client wanted a border around the perimeter, and we agreed to decide on whether it would be one or two planks wide on the day.

The first stage was to uplift and remove the clients existing carpets, followed by installing 6mm ply board over the existing hallway floorboards. the next stage was to apply a fine finish compound to the ply joins and then 3mm smoothing compound over the whole area.
On the day of installation, we rubbed down the surface of the screed to ensure it was all smooth, and then proceeded with the setting out and installation of the luxury vinyl parquet pieces. The decision was made to go for a singe plank border, which works perfectly.
