Floor restoration, sanding and sealing a Merbau parquet in Harborne

The project was undertaken for an existing client who had a tired Marbau parquet floor that had been damaged over time and further so during a recent extension to the rear of the house. There was also a section of tiles separating the hallway from an adjoining room, which the client wanted removed and replaced with parquet.

We started by uplifting and removing the existing tiled section, repairing the sub-floor and then installing some aged Merbau blocks that we sourced.
The next stage was to sand the floor using a Bona flexisand and edge sanders, starting with a 40 grit, and finishing with a 120 grit diamond pad.
Once the floor was fully sanded, we applied Bona Classic primer and Bona Traffic HD [2 coats].
We then finished the install with some new entrance matting to the front porch to protect the floor from water, grit and dirt.

The resulting floor transforms the tired look at the front of the property and brings back the period charm.

Thank you Alex for the great work. We have renovated our hallway and front room traditional parquet floor and it looks excellent and had a new engineered wood floor supplied and fitted in an extension. Everyone in the team have been very professional, quick, efficient and a pleasure to work with. Thank you for an excellent job.
